#45. The legal system feels like a huge Rube Goldberg machine, combined with a failed Turing test candidate.

  1. Sharp and Useless

In “friendly” lawsuits, both parties are in cahoots to prolong litigation while agreeing to acquire money for one side (e.g., an insurance scam). Naturally, friendly lawsuits aren’t complex at all. One side totally agrees with the other side.

However, “bragging rights” like Beaumont wants requires complex lawsuits where victory is uncertain. Like a motorcycle jump through a fiery hoop, I’ve seen lawyers create artificial obstacles just so they can brag to clients and other colleagues.

Me? I’d prefer a bit less theatrics and a bit more sleep at nights.
